Taiwanese Puppet Show

The Taiwanese puppet show is a traditional art in Taiwan. In Ming Dynasty, there was a scholar who failed the examination. He went to a temple and prayed. At night, he dreamed of an old man, who told him that he was in charge of his fate. He didn’t believe it, but he failed once more. After that, he learned how to play marionettes from his neighbor. Then he made puppets to put directly on his hands. Because he was so familiar with literature and history, he attracted many people to his shows. He was so happy and suddenly realized what the old man had told him. This is how the hand puppet show came from.
Taiwanese puppets have different characters: the male (strong and wise), the female (old or young), the powerful (with very strong character), the clown and the old man (a monk, or a god etc).
The Taiwanese puppet show now has special effects, and it is very popular on TV.  Everyone likes to watch this traditional show!  I think, some day the Taiwanese puppet show will be well-known all over the world!

Taiwanese Culture

One day, I asked my classmates about what food do they think could best represent Taiwanese culture? Most of my classmates said it was Stinky Tofu(臭豆腐). When I asked their opinions about Taiwanese table manners and taboos, they thought the elders were too old-fashioned. I think Taiwanese culture is really rich, but sometimes it is a little bit strange. For example, some adults give you a glass of beer, you have to drink it or they will say you are rude. I think this is the strangest and the worst I have ever heard! What if the person who has to drink beer is under 18 years old? It’s crazy! But I agree on Taiwanese taboos. Some of them have deep meanings. Such as you can’t turn the fish over when you finish eating one side. Because that means the fishing boat will turn over. Others like don’t put your chopsticks upright in your rice is also cool. In a word, I think Taiwanese culture, including the taboos, are really special (a little bit confusing though). Hope we can pass our culture on forever!

The summer trip

This summer, I went to 幾米’s  exhibition. This exhibition showed out 幾米’s many kinds of creation. I think the greatest creation is the opposite Views-A new look of my world. You can see through a room from a big hole. First, everything in the room are all white. The tea cups are white, too! And, when you look at the room from the other side, it turns really colorful! The room is full of blue, red and green spots.I think it means that our life is full of different surprises. There are many sides of view in our life ,so stay positive, and enjoy the happiness in your world.

Environment

Earth Day is coming soon. Because of Earth Day , our teacher organized activities for us to add more knowledge about environmental protection.
The first one was Titan , the manager in Starbucks. He told us how they used coffee dregs to make many different things, like fertilizer. I am very surprised that the tiny coffee dregs can be so useful in life!
The next one was Ryan. He taught us some words about environmental protection and some little tips for keeping the Earth healthy. The lesson was cool and fun. I like it very muck!
Last Wednesday, we went to a wetland near the Lotus pond, we watched birds and insects and found out that the wetland was important for ecology.
It is getting hotter and hotter on Earth now, and the environment is dirty and messy.  The lessons taught me how to protect the world and make the environment cleaner. I hope I can make our Earth cleaner and healthier!

A Nightmare

Then, I heard the babysitter cry “Help! Help! ” I quickly ran up to my daughter’s room and opened the door. Then I screamed. There was a big furry creature inside the room! It picked up my daughter and shouted “She is my food! “Then it flew out through the window. I ran up to the roof, caught the furry’s feet. The furry shook hard and shouted “Go away! “ I fell down from the roof. I yelled “Ah! “ Then I woke up. The babysitter was shaking me. ” Madam, your daughter wants to see you. “ My daughter was sitting beside my bed,  looking at me seriously.  I hugged her happily. I’m glad it was only a dream.

The crazy machine

This picture is about some people playing on the crazy machine. The machine can turn up, turn down and turn around 360 .When I walked to the machine, the people on it shouted and screamed. I thought they were really hysterical, so I walked closer and looked at them. Then suddenly, I found out that one of my friends was on the machine! He was very patient, but his face turned green! I laughed hard and took this picture.
